Throughout its history, the Royal Society has elected a number of individuals to its Fellowship by virtue of their being a member of the nobility. The Council of the Royal Society can recommend members of the British Royal Family for election as Royal Fellow of the Royal Society. The 51 new Fellows, 10 Foreign Members and one Honorary Fellow have been selected for their outstanding contributions to scientific understanding.
